The British tennis star secured the most important win of his career by coming back from a early deficit to defeat top-ranked player Carlos Alcaraz with a stunning comeback in the early stage of the prestigious indoor tournament.

Although he had earlier beaten Alcaraz on two separate matches, this triumph marks Norrie's first ever victory over a reigning world number one.

The British player, ranked No 31, also halted Alcaraz's dominant streak of nine finals in a row and 17 straight premier event successes, which marked the finest stretch of results in the young champion's early career.

However, Norrie steadily battled back back into the game by serving with improved accuracy and pulling the Spaniard into lengthy, demanding points.
